Diamond Supply Chain Problems

The diamond industry has long been plagued with issues related to the supply chain. From the environmental impact of diamond mining to the exploitation of workers and communities, the existing supply chain has caused numerous problems that need to be addressed.

The diamond industry has also been plagued by corruption and illicit activities, such as money laundering and financing of conflict. The infamous "blood diamonds" – diamonds mined in war zones and sold to finance armed conflict – are a prime example of these illicit activities.

Despite efforts by organizations such as the Kimberley Process, which aims to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds, there are still concerns about the transparency and ethics of the diamond supply chain.
