LOXTON DAL

Recent Explorations

An Exploration Diamond Drilling programme was successfully completed in 2013 for the Loxton Dal Diamond Mine where five boreholes of average depth of 271m were drilled for quantification of resources and grades. Three drillholes intercepted the Central Pipe and one drillhole each intercepted the West Fissure and the East Pipe. Drilling was carried out by Van Zyl Drilling and down the hole surveys were conducted using INS gyroscopic 'in-rod' survey equipment.  Logging of the cores were undertaken by  ASR Geology Consulting and Mineralogical Services, South Africa.

The cores collected from the programme were sent for detailed examination to accurately determine the size of ore body and depth of weathering. The studies confidently secure at least an additional 900,000 carats underground diamond reserves at 485m level (on an estimate of 22 cpht).

The geology report published in Feb 2018 provides new volume estimates of the different kimberlite facies at different levels for the kimberlite body, and it concluded an increase of resources and reserves by 30%. The report classifies the resource between 195mbgl to 315mbgl as Indicated Resource, and a further 120m of resource below the 315mbgl is added as Inferred Resource. Further petrographic studies and MicroDiamond Analysis are undergoing with the MSA  Group in South Africa to confirm the new estimates which would result in the upgrading of the resource to Indicated Status.

Other recent explorations for Loxton Dal include an additional bulk sample on the tailings dump in 2011, a small bulk density campaign on the tailings dump in 2012.
